On this auspicious day, devotees commemorate the birth anniversaries of Nishkulanand Swami and Brahmanand Swami, two revered paramhansas of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, whose devotional poetry continues to inspire the sampraday to this day. Vasant Panchami also marks the advent of the Shikshapatri — the sacred code of conduct written by Bhagwan Swaminarayan — as well as the birth of Shastriji Maharaj, the third spiritual successor in the tradition.

In the Swaminarayan Sampraday, the day is observed with the singing of bhajans composed by Brahmanand Swami and Nishkulanand Swami, discourses reflecting on the teachings of the Shikshapatri, and remembrance of the life and contributions of Shastriji Maharaj.
